The Optio WG-2 / Optio WG-2 GPS is the perfect choice for active photographers who shoot pictures in demanding conditions. Optio WG-2 / Optio WG-2 GPS equipped with a 16.0 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, which offers much lower noise even when camera is set to higher sensitivities. The new imaging engine applies the latest super-resolution technology to its image processing operations to assure sharp, clear, high-resolution images.

The 5X optical zoom lens covering focal lengths from 28mm wide angle to 140mm telephoto. Thanks to this versatile zoom lens, the camera captures beautiful, lively pictures in a wide range of subjects and scenes — from spectacular landscapes to family/group shots in a confined space. The tough mineral crystal cover protects internal lens elements, and an easy-to-clean SP coating helps water sheet off the optical surface, minimizing blur due to water droplets.

Use the Digital Wide mode to compose an extra-wide-angle picture (equivalent to 21mm wide angle) from two separate images. The Extended dynamic range functions help bring out extra detail in shadow and/or highlight areas of an image to prevent exposure clipping.

The Optio WG2 GPS comes equipped with an upgraded GPS module. Not only does it shorten the time lag before the start of GPS operation, but it also greatly extends the operating life of the log function. This function automatically creates log data and stores it as a KML-format file onto the memory card by simply carrying the camera, user can keep accurate track of the movement during outdoor shooting, and display it later on the computer using various online services such as Google Earth.

Optio WG-2 GPS allows the user to record position data when shooting still images and take advantage of various geo-tagging applications and services such as Google Maps. The GPS also corrects the built-in clock automatically to match local time of a particular shooting location.
